Tri-M Music Honor Society
What is Tri-M?
Tri-M is the international honor society recognizing secondary music students for their musical ability, academic excellence, school involvement, and community service.
Memorial Middle School is a participating member of the Tri-M music Honor Society, an international honor society sponsored by MENC (Music Educators National Conference). The selection of students is based on merit. Ability and scholarship in both music and academics, cooperation with teachers and fellow students, leadership, and service are basic requirements.
Musicianship: A member of Band, Chorus, and/or Orchestra
Scholarship: A student with a B average in academic classes and an A average in music classes. Students with special needs may be considered for honorary membership.
Leadership: A student who leads by example with his/her actions; a positive role model.
Cooperation: A student known for cooperating with teachers and others at school and in the community.
Service: A student who completes three service projects in school and one out of school before the March induction ceremony.
Upon completing the four service projects, student acceptance letters will be sent home. The national dues will be $10 for membership to be paid upon acceptance (in late February).
